As soon as autoflowers sprout they're on a timer. They will start to flower at a certain time no matter how big they are. With a photoperiod plant the light cycle decides which stage the plant is in. Autos are easier to grow, and flower considerably faster than photoperiods. One of the downsides to autos are they typically don't have as high of a THC concentration as photoperiod plants.
It's the process of spreading the plant out into a screen of green, or Scrog. As we stated earlier an autoflower is on a timer, and as a grower you don't want to do anything that slows it's growth. Usually you'd cut it back, which spreads it out, but the plant needs time to recover which autos don't have. Instead we "bonzai" the plant which slowly spreads the plant out, and creates new "tops". It's the best way to get the most out of your autoflowers.
